ABSTRACT
Governmental guidelines planned to diminish of environmental impact of polish energy industry given in ministerial document “Energy policy of Poland up to 2050”. In this act one of the mentioned directions of development is popularization of renewable energy sources, biomass included. The fly-ashes from coal burning have been used in concrete industry for many years. The fly-ashes from biomass firing are a new and unstudied material. The aim of this study presented in this paper was to compare selected properties of cement mortar with the addition of biomass fly-ash or coal fly-ash. The dosage of fly-ash was 20, 40 or 60% of binder’s mass. The consistency and density tests of fresh mortar were performed. The compressive and tensile strength, water absorption and density tests were performed on hardened mortar. The mean difference in compressive strength results between samples with similar dosage of biomass fly-ash or coal fly-ash was 9%.
