ABSTRACT
The article addresses the investigation of a solar chimney as a component of passive ventilation
in energy-efficient residential buildings. A comprehensive literature review was carried
out, focusing on energy-saving technologies and the role of occupants in influencing the
performance of natural ventilation. To evaluate the operational characteristics of the solar
chimney, mathematical modeling was performed using the MATLAB R2024a environment.
The obtained results demonstrate the dependence of temperature, pressure, mass flow
rate, and air velocity within the solar chimney channel on the intensity of solar radiation.
The analysis confirmed that the system ensures stable air exchange and a notable increase
in outlet air temperature with rising solar radiation. The findings provide practical insights
for the design and optimization of passive ventilation systems incorporating solar chimneys
in energy-efficient buildings.
