ABSTRACT
The incorrect design or execution of joints contributes to higher costs through material, time and/or energy losses. Choosing the right type of joint, type of weld or manufacturing technology may not only significantly reduce the expenditure, but also considerably increase the de-sign resistance of the joint itself. The paper shows how to use butt and fillet welds more economically.
